Sport Trailing Trainer Requirements
- He/she has to complete specific instruction provided by GAK9 trainers.
- The instruction is focused on teaching modules on the GAK9 mantrailing technique and on teaching pedagogy.
- The instruction is divided into 6 modules over 10 days and at least 10 days of practical teaching to real students, under the guidance of the GAK9 trainers.
- Throughout the instruction, participants will be assessed on their skills and abilities to teach a mantrailing course.
- To validate his/her instruction, participants must have passed a theoretical and a practical exam. They will have to demonstrate their ability to manage a trail with its preparation, running and debriefing to a student.
- They must also have passed a certificate (level 1) with their dog or a dog loaned to them. Those who have already passed this certificate before the instruction will not have to repeat it.
- The GAK9 Sport Trailing Trainer certificate is signed by Jeff Schettler, CEO of GAK9.
- The Sport Trailing Trainer may sign an agreement with Jeff Schettler (at least for 2 years) and and work under GAK9 banner. The fees are from 500 USD per year. The trainer then has rights to GAK9 logos and advertising.
- The Sport Trailing Trainer can only teach within his local team/group.
- The Sport Trailing Trainer teach the teams only for fun/leisure (sport) and not for rescue, police, or military.
- The Sport Trailing Trainer is not authorized to certify official Sport Trailing GAK9 certifications. He/she can only prepare the teams.
- The GAK9 Sport Trailing Trainer must be supervised for at least 2 days per year by a GAK9 instructor, or invite a GAK9 Trainer for a seminar with his group.
- The Sport Trailing Trainer does not have the status of a GAK9 instructor. A GAK9 instructor also benefits from the status of Sport Trailing Trainer.
- If he/she wants, after 2 years of practice, the Sport Trailing Trainer may apply to become a GAK9 instructor.
- Which GAK9 instructors can organize and teach Sport Trailing Trainer courses ?
In order to conduct a Sport Trailing Trainer course, a GAK9 trainer must have certified at least 5 teams in Sport Trailing.
