TOBIAS ACKERMANN
Trainer / Switzerland
Tobias Ackermann is a police K9 handler for the city Police of Baden, Switzerland. He has been working with his black German Shepherd Lord since March 2010. Thanks to him he could fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a Police K9 handler. His first experiences with dogs were as a teenager when he used to go to dog shows with a family friend’s Bobtail. Later on a Labrador female came to live with his family and he was helping with her training as much as possible.

Tobias completed his first trailing training with Lord with the Swiss border Patrol. After this, he tried to continue its training by himself, but back then trailing was not part of the training for Police Patrol dogs. Hence he put trailing aside and focused on training Lord for his patrol duties.
After passing the operational test Tobias wanted to start trailing again with Lord. He met Alis Dobler of K-9 Manhunters at the beginning of 2014 and has been training with her since then. He has also been a trainer for K-9 Manhunters since May 2015 and a member of K-9 Search & Rescue Association.
In addition to his regular training with Lord in Switzerland Tobias spent three weeks of intensive training at Jeff Schettler’s facility on Edisto Island.
